Greece, Iberdrola has started the construction of its 50.4 MW Askio III wind farm

Spanish energy company Iberdrola has started the construction of its 50.4 MW Askio III wind farm near the city of Kozani in Greece’s Western Macedonia region.

The statement from the company said that it is currently transporting 12 4.2 MW wind turbines to the site, and hopes to finalize the installation in the autumn to avoid frequent snowfall in the area during winter months.

Last year, Iberdola signed the wind turbine supply contract with Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems.

Iberdrola has several wind projects under development in Greece. It is currently building the 33.6 MW Mikronoros wind farm in the Rhodopi region, and plans to start construction of the 18 MW Rokani and the 37.8 MW Askio II wind projects by the end of the year.
