Greece, Ellaktor targets 1.2 GW of renewable energy by 2025.

Greece’s Ellaktor construction group, which is also active in the renewable energy market, will seek to develop 1.2 GW of renewable energy projects by 2025, CEO Timios Bulutas said during a presentation of financial results for 2021.

He added that the goal is in line with the need for energy independence that arose after the start of the war in Ukraine.

Through its renewable energy branch, Ellaktor owns 493 MW of wind, hydro and solar power plants. Most of the capacity consists of wind turbines.

In partnership with Portugal’s EDP Renovaveis SA, the Greek company is currently developing a 496 MW wind project on the island of Evia, and is also working on the development of 200 MW wind farms in Thrace and Laconia.

Initiatives related to the hybrid hydropower and wind project on Lesbos and the expansion of wind farms in Epirus and the Peloponnese are also underway, the company’s financial report shows.
