Montenegro: Export of electricity 186.5 GWh in the first two months

In the first two months of this year, Elektroprivreda Crne Gore exported 186.5 GWh of electricity, which was worth 40.5 million euros. In the same period, the state-owned electricity company imported 77.8 GWh of electricity worth 14.8m euros.

The company says that EPCG is not considering increasing electricity prices, especially not for households.

Although during the first two months of this year, a smaller amount of electricity was exported compared to the same period last year, by 202.8 GWh, earnings were higher by about 20 million euros, because the prices at which electricity was sold are four times higher. , it was announced to Pobjeda from EPCG.

The shutdown of production in KAP released about 500 GWh of electricity per year.

This year, when there was no precipitation and the hydro production was lower, the company was supported by the fact that KAP is not online, because that would result in a reduction in the effects of exports during the first two months, according to EPCG.

In the first two months of this year, EPCG imported 77.8 GWh of electricity worth 14.8 million euros.

In the same period last year, the realized import was 5.9 GWh, worth 0.33 million euros.

The reason for such a small import last year is very good hydrological conditions and abundant production of hydroelectric power plants, according to EPCG.

During the first two months of this year, the Perućica and Piva hydropower plants produced 290 GWh of electricity.

Production is at the level of 78 percent of the plan from the electricity balance for this year. Compared to the first two months of last year, production in hydropower plants is lower by 327 GWh or 53%, or more than twice less.

Lack of precipitation

Representatives of EPCG added that bad hydrological conditions during January and February, as well as the lack of planned precipitation from the previous quarter, directly affected the decline in production in hydroelectric power plants.

The realized precipitation during the first two months is 218 liters per square meter, which is 54% of the average amount of precipitation for January and February.

The total production from the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant in this period amounted to 275 GWh, which is 4% more than planned.

EPCG states that production is lower by 17 GWh or 6% compared to the same period last year.

At this moment, it is difficult to assess whether significant imports of electricity will be needed in the coming period. Representatives of EPCG reminded that almost the whole of March passed without precipitation, and thus there were no inflows on the rivers, so that the planned production from hydroelectric power plants will be at a level lower than planned.
