Bulgaria, Production of electricity in January 2022 increased by 3.1 %

According to Bulgarian National Statistical Institute, production of electricity in January 2022 increased by 3.1 %, compared to December 2021, to 5,168 GWh, while consumption of electricity rose by 5.5 % on monthly basis and amounted to 3,570 GWh. Consumption of natural gas in January 2022 increased by 5.2 % and amounted to 387 million cubic meters, while its production remained the same and amounted to 2 million cubic meters.

Compared to January 2021, production of electricity increased by 24.4 %, while its consumption rose by 4.1 %. Consumption of natural gas increased by 1.6 % compared to January 2021, while its production dropped by 50 %.

In January, production of unleaded petrol amounted to 146,000 tons after planned maintenances of production facilities in the previous month, while its consumption increased by 57.7 % and amounted to 41,000 tons. Production of diesel in January increased to 258,000 tons compared to 172,000 tons in the previous month, while its consumption decreased by 13.9 % and amounted to 180,000 tons.

Consumption of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) decreased by 15.8 % and amounted to 32,000 tons, while its production dropped to just 4,000 tons. In the same period, production of solid fuels increased by 11.5 % to 3,613 thousand tons, while consumption of this energy resource rose by 10.2 % to 3,665 thousand tons.
