Romania, Hidroelectrica sold electricity for the delivery during 2022 to OMV Petrom at the price of 132.6 euros/MWh

Romanian electricity producer Hidroelectrica sold electricity for the delivery during 2022 to OMV Petrom at the price of 132.6 euros/MWh, the highest so far.

Hidroelectrica offered on the OPCOM’s centralized market for bilateral contracts a 5 MW peakload package for the entire 2022, totaling 20,800 MWh at the price of 117.2 euros/MWh. The package was bought by OMV Petrom at 132.6 euros/MWh, much higher than the asking price.

For comparison, in late August, Hidroelectrica sold 5 MW peakload packages for the delivery between 1 July 2022 and 30 June 2023 at the price of 108.3 euros/MWh, while those for the delivery during 2022 were sold at 111.4 euros/MWh.

In April, same peakload packages with 2022 delivery were sold at prices between 68 and 69 euros/MWh. This means that the price of electricity for 2022 nearly doubled in just six months.
