Hungary, Government plans to launch a tender for more than 58 million euros in grants

State Secretary for the Development of Circular Economy, Energy and Climate Policy Attila Steiner said that Hungary plans to launch a tender for more than 58 million euros in grants to support the installation of home solar panels and energy- efficient heating systems.

Steiner said that the grants are planned to target some 35,000 households, mostly with below- average income. He added that around 46 million euros of the funding would come from Hungary’s Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) plan and the rest from the state budget.

The grants are expected to add 175 MW to Hungary’s solar panel capacity and boost households’ solar capacity by one-quarter, reducing CO2 emissions by 50,000 tons.

The tender will be open to households with combined annual net income per capita of 14,000 euros, about level with the annual net income per capita of a three-member household in 2019.
