Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elektroprijenos BiH announced that it plans to invest some 147 million euros in 2021.

Bosnian electricity transmission system operator Elektroprijenos BiH announced that it plans to invest some 147 million euros in 2021.

According to Bosnian media, the investments include reconstruction and upgrades of existing facilities and construction of new ones, as well as investments in information technology, vehicles and equipment. The investments include reconstruction of 33 transformer stations and 10 transmission lines, construction of 110 kV transmission line Rama/Prozor-Uskoplje/Gornji Vakuf and the upgrade of the company’s telecommunications system. The investments will be financed from the company’s own funds and loans.

Along with the planned investments for 2021, approved by the state energy regulator DERK, there are two non-planned urgent projects for delivery of two transformers, which are already under way. The projects are considered of crucial importance for the national electricity distribution system and related to upgrades of Visegrad transformer station worth 2.3 million euros and Mostar 4 transformer station worth 1.3 million euros.

The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) holds a 58.9 % stake in Elektroprenos BiH, while the Republic of Srpska (RS) has a 41.1 % stake. Last year, the operator planned to invest around 88 million euros in the country’s transmission system.
