Greece: ADMIE recommends lower system charges for industrial consumers

In the context of the Energy Ministry guidelines, Greek electricity transmission system operator ADMIE has proposed reductions similar to those that apply for major consumers in other European countries such as Germany, France and the Netherlands. The recommendation of ADMIE to the Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE), to spread the guaranteed annual revenue the regulator has approved for various consumer categories, provides for a significant reduction in system charges for industrial consumers.

To back up its proposal, ADMIE has conducted a study in which it examined the charges fellow European operators apply. The precise extent of the reduction, according to the ADMIE proposal, entails a combination of consumption and the voltage coefficient of each large consumer. The proposal also takes into account the benefits that will emerge for the stability of the grid, through the operation of large consumers at off-peak times. For domestic consumers, sources say the ADMIE proposal includes an increase in system charges by 2 euros/MWh. The final decision rests with RAE, and is expected in the next few days.
