Bosnia and Herzegovina: Gross electricity production in December

In December gross electricity production in the country amounted to 1,673 GWh, compared to 1,834 GWh in the same month last year, according to Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). In total gross electricity production hydropower plants participated with the share of 35 %, thermal power plants with 63.5 % and solar and wind power plants with 1.5 %. Net production of hydropower plants amounted to 569 GWh in December 2020, which is 28.9 % less than in the same month in 2019. Thermal production amounted to 962 GWh, which is 6.1 % more than last December. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 24 GWh. Electricity imports rose by 114.4 % to 371 GWh in December from last year’s 173 GWh, while exports increased by 4.4 % to 832 GWh (797 GWh in December 2019). Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 691,000 tons in December 2020, which is 4.2 % less compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal decreased by 4.6 % and amounted to 578,000 tons. Natural gas imports in December 2020 amounted to 30.431 million cubic meters, which is 5 % less than a year before (32.022 million cubic meters).
