Romania: Increase in average day-ahead OPCOM price

In December 2020, the average price of electricity on day-ahead market of the Romanian energy exchange OPCOM amounted to 58.37 euros/MWh, which is 42.77 % higher compared to the same month in 2019 and 20.04 % higher compared to the previous month, when average baseload price amounted to 48.63 euros/MWh. Traded volume in December reached 2.118 million MWh, which is 2.23 % more than in December 2019, and 18.46 % more than in November 2020. Average traded volume in December 2020 amounted to 2,846.8 MWh/h. The total value of transactions in December amounted to 128.87 million euros, which is by 44.62 % more compared to December last year (89.11 million euros) and 42.8 % more than in the previous month (90.24 million euros). The share of day-ahead market in forecasted net consumption in December 2020 amounted to 41.11 %. A total of 73,383 MWh was traded on intraday market in December (23.65 % more than in December 2019, and 64.77 % more compared to November 2020), with an average price of 68.21 euros/MWh (+38.67 %). Total traded volume for bilateral contracts with delivery in December amounted to 1.270 million MWh, with an average price of 54.89 euros/MWh.
