Croatia: HOPS certified the energy management system

Pursuant to the Energy Efficiency Act and the Ordinance on Energy Inspection for Large Enterprises, the Croatian electricity transmission system operator HOPS decided to certify the energy management system, which was successfully completed in late 2017 in accordance with ISO 50001: 2011. Reducing the consumption of energy is one of the five dimensions of the Energy Union strategy in line with the new package of European Union legislation – Clean Energy for all Europeans.

In December 2020, HOPS certified its energy management system according to ISO 50001: 2018, which is the most widely accepted internationally accepted energy management standard, applicable to any organization wishing to introduce, maintain and continuously improve its own system. The certification process of the energy management system has realized positive effects such as a reduction in the consumption of electricity and heat, water and fuel in cars, and promotional, communication and similar effects. The relationship with the competent institutions has been improved, responsibility and awareness of energy and energy consumption have been raised, and the company’s business reputation in the public has been improved, which contributes to the fulfillment of the basic business goals of HOPS.

With this approach, HOPS as a company strives to be a permanently aware and responsible member of the environment in which it operates and to systematically improve the quality of life in the immediate environment and globally.
