Bosnia and Herzegovina: Production of electricity in October

In October gross electricity production in Bosnia and Herzegovina amounted to 1,272 GWh, compared to 1,204 GWh in the same month last year, according to Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

In total gross electricity production hydropower plants participated with the share of 33.5 %, thermal power plants with 64.6 % and solar and wind power plants with 1.9 %. Net production of hydropower plants amounted to 424 GWh in October 2020, which is 5.7 % more than in the same month in 2019. Thermal production amounted to 741 GWh, which is 5.1 % more than last October. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 24 GWh. Electricity imports rose by 29.7 % to 384 GWh in October from last year’s 296 GWh, while exports increased by 40.7 % to 646 GWh (459 GWh in October 2019). Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 585,000 tons in October 2020, which is 6.3 % less compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal increased by 10.8 % and amounted to 555,000 tons. Natural gas imports in October 2020 amounted to 17.002 million cubic meters, which is 3.4 % more than a year before (16.447 million cubic meters).
