Romania: Increased gas imports in 2020

In the first seven months of 2020 natural gas imports amounted to 1.116 million tons of oil equivalent which is by 0.4 % or 4,000 tons of oil equivalent more compared to the same period last year, according to data published by the National Institute for Statistics (INS).

In the January-July 2020 period, domestic gas production amounted to 4.221 million tons of oil equivalent, which Is by 11.3 % or 534,000 tons of oil equivalent lower than in the same period in 2019. According to the Romanian Energy Strategy draft, annual natural gas production is expected to slightly decrease and reach an average of 9 to 10 billion cubic meters between 2016 and 2030.
