Romania: Delgaz Grid implements smart metering project in Iasi county

In Iasi county during last month, Romanian natural gas and electricity distributor Delgaz Grid, a subsidiary of German company E.ON, has started the works on the implementation of the smart metering project. The company already installed about 1,000 smart meters.

The investment will include more than 10,000 meters, and the related low voltage distribution network will be rehabilitated by replacing 8.8 kilometers of lines and more than 1,800 electrical panels. At the same time, the hardware infrastructure and software applications necessary for the operation of the intelligent measurement system will be implemented. The investment amounts to over 9 million euros.

In recent years, about 320,000 smart meters have been installed for Moldova region consumers, through successive investment programs worth almost 27 million euros. For the period 2019-2028, the company’s goal is to install about 397,000 smart meters, through the investments of 26.5 million euros. This means that more than 700,000 customers, representing 45 % of the total customers connected to the company’s electricity network, will have smart meters installed by the end of 2028.
