Croatia: Traded electricity in July on CROPEX

In July 2020, a total volume of 490,839.8 MWh of electricity was traded on the Croatian energy exchange CROPEX which is 3.5 % less than in June, of which 457,551.8 MWh on the day-ahead market and 33,288 MWh on the intraday market. Traded volume in July 2020 was 2 % lower compared to the same month last year. Average daily base price on day-ahead market in July amounted to 35.43 euros/MWh, which is 23.1 % higher than in the previous month, while average euro-peak price reached 37.73 euros/MWh, 24.9 % higher compared to the previous month. The average price on the intraday market was 35.77 euros/MWh (+ 15.4 %). There are 20 participants on CROPEX day-ahead market, twelve of which have been active on the intraday market as well. Average daily traded volume on the day-ahead market in July amounted to 14,759.7 MWh.

July recorded the highest daily amount traded on the intraday market on 25 July with 6,346.8 MWh in 325 separate transactions and weighted average price of 27.02 euros/MWh. CROPEX was launched on 11 March 2016 in cooperation with Nord Pool, Europe’s leading electricity exchange, and is co-owned by the Croatian electricity transmission system operator (HOPS) and the Croatian electricity market operator (HROTE). Intraday market was launched in April 2017. On 19 June last year, after joint project of Croatian and Slovenian transmission system operators and power exchanges, CROPEX day ahead market was successfully coupled with MRC markets through Croatian – Slovenian border.
