Romania: Fast charging points for electric vehicles at 30 OMV’s petrol stations

In Romania and Bulgaria OMV Petrom and Eldrive will install 30 fast charging stations for electric vehicles and the implementation of this project will take about two years.

As a result of this initiative, Romania and Bulgaria will be connected by a 50 kW fast charging point infrastructure, located in the stations in the OMV network. Eldrive will install and be the operator of the charging points. The first two stations of this project were installed in Bulgaria and are already in operation.

OMV Petrom is present in the fuel distribution market in Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria and Serbia, operating a network of 800 petrol stations under the OMV and Petrom brands. Eldrive network has over 210 charging points in Bulgaria and Romania. At the end of 2019, some 400 charging stations for electric vehicles were installed in Romania, while the number of newly registered electric and hybrid vehicles in the first four months of 2020 represented 2.75 % of the number of registered vehicles.
