Plan Met and Exceeded
Despite the dry second half of 2019, the plan exceeded by 10 per cent
During the last year, the Drinsko-Limske HPPs generated 3,235,451,000 kWh of electricity, which is 10% more than the planned 2,937,000,000 kWh of electricity. The plan was fulfilled and exceeded, although the latter part of the year was marked by worse hydrology.
Meeting the annual balance and production above the plan were achieved mainly due to periodic rainfall and snowmelt in the hydrological area of the Piva, Tara, Lim and Upper Drina rivers in the first half of the year, while from July to December 2019 a dry period prevailed. The month with the least rainfall was October and the months with the highest inflow were February and March. This has contributed to reaching and exceeding the production plan.
– Last year was characterized by satisfactory operational readiness of the Bajina BaÅ¡ta HPP and PSHPP units, provision of ancillary services and meeting the Serbian power system requirements – Drinsko-Limske HPPs generation division reports.
The 2019 Drinsko-Limske HPPs production plan was accurate. As the second half of the year was dry, the plan turned out to be realistic. Although the water and energy content of the reservoirs was then declining, the EPS Dispatch Planning and Production Management Division managed to achieve and exceed the projected balance.
Last year, HPP Bajina Bašta generated 1,382,604,000 kWh of electricity, which is 10.17 per cent more than planned. The pumped-storage HPP Bajina Bašta generated 739 million kWh, of the planned 827 million kWh, which is 89.43 per cent. HPP Zvornik generated 456 million kWh, which is 25.62 per cent more than the planned 363 million kWh. Production by Limske HPPs is 35.75 per cent higher than planned, while HPP Elektromorava produced 11.67 per cent more than projected by last year’s balance.
The month with the best hydrology at HPP Bajina Bašta was February 2019, when an average of 406 cubic meters of water per second was flowing through the turbines and 158 million kWh was generated, while the month with the worst hydrology was October, with almost identical inflow and flow of 77 cubic meters of water per second with generation of nearly 29 million kWh, the lowest monthly generation in 2019.
Statistically speaking, the beginning of last year, when analysing the January – June period, is better when it comes to inflow and flow, which amounted to about 353 cubic meters per second. The mean inflow at the Bajina BaÅ¡ta HPP in 2019 was 276 cubic meters per second, which was also its discharge. The highest inflow on the profile of HPP Bajina BaÅ¡ta was recorded on 5 February – 784 cubic meters per second, while the highest flow was recorded on the same day – 860 cubic meters of water per second.
The total flow on the profile of HPP Bajina Bašta in 2019 was 8.626 billion cubic meters of water. The average annual inflow of the Drina last year was 276.32 cubic meters per second. Out of the total annual average flow, 274.64 cubic meters of water were used for electricity generation, while the remaining 0.37 cubic meters per second has passed through the power plant discharge structures.
In 2019, the Bajina Bašta HPP units spent 18,193 hours online and were started-up 1,638 times. The units of the pumped-storage hydropower plant were online for 6,776 hours under both modes of operation, while the number of start-ups under both modes of operation was 1,013 hours.
