Croatia: 1,201 GWh of electricity produced in January

According to short-term indicators of energy statistics published by Croatian Bureau of Statistics, net electricity production in Croatia in January 2019 amounted to 1,201 GWh, which is 16.3 % less compared to January last year, when the production amounted to 1,435 GWh.

During January, 469 GWh of electricity or 39.1 % was produced in hydropower plants, 512 GWh or 42.6 % was produced in thermal power plants, while wind farms produced 157 GWh or 13.1 % of total produced electricity. During this period, Croatia imported 1,082 GWh of electricity, which is 28.5 % higher compared to last January (842 GWh), while electricity exports stood at 553 GWh, 18.9 % less compared to 682 GWh in the same month last year. Regarding hydrocarbon production, Croatia produced 103 million cubic meters of natural gas in January 2019, which is 15 % less than in the same month last year. Natural gas imports stood at 171 million cubic meters, 6.9 % more than in January 2018. Crude oil production stood at 58,000 tons, slightly more than in January last year. Production of petroleum products stood at 24,000 tons in January 2019, significantly lower compared to January 2018, due to the overhaul of Rijeka refinery.
