In October 2025, electricity consumption drawn from Slovenia’s transmission network reached 956.4 GWh, representing a 7.3% increase compared to the same month in 2024. This marked a notable rebound after nearly a year of lower network offtake.
All three main consumer groups recorded higher usage. Distribution companies drew 829.2 GWh, up by 2.6%, while direct industrial consumers increased their offtake to 83.8 GWh, a rise of 10.4%. The most significant surge came from the pumped-storage hydropower plant (HPP) Avče, which used 43.4 GWh, reflecting an extraordinary 495% increase.
Total electricity offtake in October also exceeded balancing forecasts by 8.7%. Distribution companies consumed 9.4% more than expected, and HPP Avče surpassed its forecast by nearly 50%, while direct industrial consumers fell slightly below estimates, at 9.9% under forecast.
From January through October, Slovenia’s transmission network supplied a total of 8,789 GWh, which is 0.8% less than the same period in 2024, but still in line with annual projections. During this ten-month period, distribution companies withdrew 7,634.6 GWh, down by 2%, while direct consumers increased usage to 788 GWh, up 2.9%. HPP Avče recorded 366.3 GWh, showing a notable 21.1% rise compared to last year.
These figures highlight the growing contribution of hydropower and industrial demand to Slovenia’s electricity consumption, with HPP Avče emerging as a key driver of fluctuations in network offtake.
