GE Vernova has secured a new agreement to provide turbines for Greenvolt Power’s second utility-scale wind project in Romania, strengthening the Portuguese group’s footprint in the country’s rapidly expanding renewable energy market.
Under the contract, GE Vernova will supply, install, and commission 42 onshore wind turbines from its 6.1 MW, 158-meter platform for the Gurbanesti project in Calarasi county, totaling approximately 250 MW of capacity. This order, finalized in Q4 2025, follows Greenvolt’s earlier selection of GE Vernova for its 252 MW Ialomita wind farm.
Combined, the Gurbanesti and Ialomita projects will add nearly 500 MW of new renewable capacity to Romania’s grid, sufficient to power over 110,000 households, and support the country’s long-term clean energy goals.
Delivery of turbines for the Gurbanesti project is scheduled to begin in 2026. GE Vernova emphasized the strategic significance of consecutive large-scale orders in Romania, highlighting the value and reliability of its flagship turbine technology for European markets.
