Gross electricity production in North Macedonia increased by 19.3% in October 2023 compared to the same month last year, to 478,209 MWh, the statistical office said.
In the same period, electricity output rose by 21.6%, to 451,357 MWh, Makstat said in a statement.
Thermal power plants contributed the largest portion of gross electricity production in October, generating 210,122 MWh, down 27.9% compared to the same month in 2022. Hydropower plants generated 97,459 MWh, up 3.1% year-on-year.
Wind parks’ output went up 59% to 13,725 MWh in the month under review, while solar parks produced 10,129 MWh, up from just 3,008 MWh in October 2022.
Electricity production by cogeneration plants and auto-production thermal power stations totalled 141,455 MWh, up from 3,177 MWh in October 2022. Biogas plants generated 5,320 MWh of electricity in October 2023, as no comparison figures were provided.
Macedonia’s electricity imports increased to 125,852 MWh in October 2023 from 95,874 MWh in October 2022. Electricity exports reached 147,569 MWh in October, compared to 2,669 MWh exported in the same month of last year.
Distribution losses decreased 2.9% on the year to 71,687 MWh in October.
