Elnos Serbia has signed a contract with Sinohydro Corporation Limited, a subsidiary of PowerChina, to participate in the construction of the Vetrozelena wind farm, poised to become the largest standalone wind installation in the Balkans. The project will have a total installed capacity of 300 MW, featuring 48 turbines rated at 6.25 MW each.
Under the agreement, Elnos Serbia, part of the Elnos Group, will manage the entire network-connection package, linking Vetrozelena to Serbia’s transmission network. The work includes building a 35/400 kV substation with four 90-MVA transformers, a 400 kV switchyard with six bays, and a 7.5-kilometer double-circuit 400 kV transmission line. Necessary upgrades to local electricity distribution and telecommunications infrastructure are also included.
The contract follows an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) model, with Elnos Serbia responsible for delivering the full engineering cycle: design, construction, equipment procurement, installation, integration, testing, and system commissioning.
