Albania: ALPEX posts 84% annual growth in October trading volume

The Albanian electricity exchange ALPEX reported that the total volume of electricity traded in the day-ahead market reached 159.5 GWh in October 2025. This represents an increase of 25.1 percent compared to the previous month and 84.2 percent compared to October 2024.

Out of the total traded volume, 99 GWh of electricity was traded for the Kosovo bidding zone and 101.6 GWh for the Albania bidding zone. The average market clearing price stood at 126.8 euros per MWh in Albania and 126.4 euros per MWh in the Kosovo zone.

The total value of transactions on ALPEX in October amounted to approximately 40 million euros, marking an 88 percent increase year-on-year.

ALPEX was established by the Albanian electricity transmission system operator OST and its Kosovo counterpart KOSTT in October 2020. The exchange held its first Albanian auction in April 2023 and currently has 36 members operating within the bidding zones of Albania and Kosovo.
