Serbia: Construction of 300 MW Vetrozelena wind farm near Pancevo to begin soon

The construction of the Vetrozelena wind farm near Pancevo is set to commence soon, with the project being developed by Chinese company PowerChina Resources. With an installed capacity of 300 MW, the wind farm will supply renewable energy to approximately 180,000 residents.

Located about 40 kilometers northeast of Belgrade, within the municipality of Pancevo, the project will span the cadastral areas of Dolovo and Banatsko Novo Selo. Commissioning is scheduled for the second quarter of 2026.

PowerChina Resources is a strategic partner of CWP Europe, a leading renewable energy developer in Serbia and the region. Vetrozelena marks CWP’s second major wind energy project in the country, following the 158 MW Cibuk wind farm. With 48 wind turbines and a capacity of 300 MW, Vetrozelena will be nearly twice the size of Cibuk.

The wind farm is expected to generate significant environmental benefits, reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 820,000 tons annually and contributing to Serbia’s energy transition goals.
